Seju Eiko, is the heir of the Seju clan in the village of Kiri no Yama. She, along with her older sister Tsurai, have been trained since they were very little to become the rightful heiresses of the clan. The Seju clan had been retainers of the deity Inari since the beginning of times.
When the time came for her to become the vessel for Inari to walk on earth, she wasn’t able to resist all that power and she was put aside and Lady Imoto continued being the voice of Inari on earth. Stripped from her right to become the new leader of the clan, the five sages sent her away. She was sent to a shrine at the Capital city to become its new Miko. She was in charge of 3 kitsunes who became friends with her very soon and called her “sister” she led a peaceful but monotonous life in the city almost forgetting her past and her older sister, Tsurai.
One night someone knocked on the shrine’s main gate and when Eiko got there she found a baby wrapped in diapers and when she was inside they discovered it was a baby kitsune so they decided to take her in as one of their own and they named her “Akane” and so the story of Kitsune no monogatari begins.
